Greenhouse or Sun shed

Are you in need of a greenhouse or sun shed for flowers? Do you need a shed for your garden tools and supplies? Have you decided if it should be a lean-to or a free standing greenhouse structure?

Have you considered a combination of a shed merged with a greenhouse?

Just picture bringing these two concepts together which would give you a greenhouse needed for your plants and the storage area necessary for your garden tools.

Have you considered a lean-to?

Are you considering using an existing wall to be a part of a lean-to structure and the greenhouse to be freestanding? Or are you considering sandwiching the lean-to between an existing wall and one wall of the greenhouse?

Getting started:

• Select your site • Select building plans • Pull necessary building permits • Check zoning requirements • Have been met all legal requirements and approvals?

Now, you can get started on the fun part of utilizing your woodworking skills.

There are several choices for the foundation. Price, the ground, and personal choices will decide the materials to be used. You will want a slanted roof because of the glass window which you will be using for the roof of the greenhouse or sun shed and the other half of the roof made with wood and covered with your choice of roofing material identical to the main house.

People like to have the wood section of the shed to be the same as the main house so that the sun shed appears to be an extension of the house and the architectural design is similar.

Pressure treated lumber is a necessity because of the moisture which will be created in the greenhouse. Cedar wood is choice. However, check with your lumber supplier for the type of wood which will be best for your project and the climate in your region.

After you have completed all that you wanted in the greenhouse or sun shed, take a moment to look and review the immediate surroundings.

If additional land space is available; imagine what it would look like to install an ornamental pond with a waterfall. Place outdoor furniture and an outdoor grill in the new landscaped area.

Benefits of this arrangement:

• Much relaxation and enjoyment. • A gathering place for friends and family • Surrounded by your favorite flowers and trees. • As you lie in your lounge chair you will hear the waterfall lulling you into a much deserved nap. • You have created your personal outdoor paradise.

In conclusion think carefully, organize, and plan, plan, and plan. This is the most important first steps to take.
