There are 2 main reasons why we should choose energy-saving led strips to use in our homes, offices, hospitals, industries etc. The principal benefit is that of saving considerable quantities of electricity as compared with the use of traditional "tungsten filament" type fittings. it is possible to make savings of up to about 80% in the amount of electricity which we use. For example, in a situation where we might originally have used a 100 Watt tungsten lamp, an equivalent amount of light can now be provided by an energy-saving lamp which consumes only about 21 Watts. This therefore gives a theoretical saving in electricity of something like 79%. As the cost of providing this electricity becomes greater every year, the benefit of this cost saving also becomes greater.led strip lights The secondary principal benefit of using energy-saving lamps is that their lifespan is very much greater than that of traditional lamps. It is difficult to quantify exactly how much extra life we get out of them, simply because nobody takes the trouble to sit down and accurately calculate the precise period of time for which traditional lamps and energy saving lamps are used every day. However, the widely publicised lifespan of tungsten filament lamps is usually regarded as being about 1000 hours. Manufacturers of energy-saving lamps claim that they can give a life of up to 10 times (or maybe even more) the life of traditional lamps. Therefore we can assume they might have a lifespan of 10,000 hours. If we assume that in a typical house, the lamps burn for an average of 7 hours per day (averaged throughout the year), - it would mean that a typical energy saving lamp could last for about 4 years before it needed replacement.led strip lighting When energy saving lamps were first introduced, they were quite expensive compared to traditional lamps, so the replacement costs were not necessarily that different. But nowadays the production costs of energy-saving lamps have fallen dramatically, and their purchase cost may now be comparable with that of traditional lamps. This would mean that the cost of purchasing energy-saving lamps over a period of time would only be the equivalent of about 1/10 of the cost of purchasing traditional led strip. So, to summarise; - with the significant savings in the cost of the electricity we use,and with the much reduced cost of purchasing energy-saving lamps, – there is no longer any good reason not to choose them in preference to traditional lamps.
