Using Ferries For A Channel Crossing

A channel crossing is now a smooth and simple journey and travelling on ferries from Dover to Dunkerque is a great experience. The ferry crosses the water from one side to the other in around two hours and the whole experience is a comfortable one. The state of the art ferries ensure that passengers travel in comfort.

Do not attempt to board the boat without a valid passport. It is also highly advisable to have travel insurance in place.

On board bistro's offer fine dining experiences. Relax in style and make the most of a hearty meal and a glass of good wine. Should a large meal be too much then sample a snack from the takeaway. Shopping and holidays go hand in hand so why not peruse the well stocked stores aboard the ferry. No matter how small the goods are the shops will have them in stock.

Duty free goods may not be an option but luxury items are lower in price. Designer watches and elegant jewellery make fine family presents. Luxurious cosmetics and delicate up to the minute fragrances will enthrall many female passengers. Wine buffs will be able to buy their favourite vintages and there are many quality ales and bottles of spirits to sample.

Peace and quiet is a must for many travellers. First class travel may mean paying a little more but it does guarantee certain luxuries. Children under the age of eight are unable to travel first class. Although smoking is not allowed in any communal place it is acceptable for a smoker to take a walk to a designated area, usually an outside deck.

It's perfectly possible to book and travel on the ferry on the same day. Having said that it will cost more for the privilege of doing so. Booking online is straightforward and it makes good sense to do so.

The ferries coming out of Dover to Dunkerque carry vehicles and passengers. The giant boats do not generally carry anyone who is boarding by foot. Luggage is often carried in a roof box and that is acceptable although the size of the box is limited. If a family pet is travelling then a pet passport is the order of the day.

Although the holiday is only just beginning it is crucial to arrive at the port with plenty of time to spare. Dover and Dunkerque ferry ports have their own unique way of checking passenger credentials and those formalities take time.

The staff are well trained and know exactly how to help with disabled passengers. Although disability presents no problem it is courteous and helpful to let the company know of the situation when the booking is made.
