Replacing Butter With Coconut Oil

There are many things you can do to dramatically improve your diet and enhance your physical and mental health. The best way to achieve these effects is through making changes to what you consume as food. One of the greatest tragedies of the modern world is the belief that health can be transformed through the use of pharmaceutical medications. In reality, all pharmaceuticals are degrading to the body, and even if it helps you with one condition, they will slowly hurt you in other ways. By eliminating pharmaceuticals and treating yourself with nutrition, you will be much better off. Human beings were not meant to heal themselves with single-chemical pills, as they lack the synergistic components and natural, unprocessed qualities of real food.

Perhaps the best thing you can do to immediately start changing the quality of your health, both in regards to weight, energy, and mental stability, is replacing butter with coconut oil. Butter is a fatty substance which is high in long-chain saturated fat and cholesterol, and also contains residual toxins if not organic. Also, since butter is present in so many products, it can be all too easy to consume abnormally large quantities of it. The best way to reduce butter consumption is to replace butter with coconut oil, which can be used in its place in recipes and as a spread. Not only will this significantly decrease your saturated fat and animal cholesterol intake, but it will provide your body with a full-spectrum of nutrients that butter does not have.

Coconut oil consumption used to be discouraged because it is almost pure saturated fat, much like butter. The key difference is that the saturated fat in coconut oil is comprised of medium-chain fatty acids, which are delivered directly to the bloodstream and are vital for cellular energy. In this respect, these acids help people lose weight. Perhaps even more importantly, coconut oil contains compounds with remarkable antibacterial and antiviral properties.

The primary compound which achieves the above stated effects is lauric acid, which is processed by the body into monolaurin, a substance with potent antibacterial properties. This substance combats illnesses like the common cold and influenza, to the agents which contribute to atherslerosis, one of the most significant causes of heart attack. Coconut oil has contains at least seven other types of acids similar to lauric acid which act synergistically to improve its powers.

With all of these reasons to give coconut oil a chance, why not go for it? You'll experience the benefits so quickly you will wonder why you stuck around with butter for so long!
