What Is Clickbank Gravity?

If you are an affiliate marketer, then you have probably signed up with Clickbank. They have over 50,000 digital products to promote and over 100,000 active affiliate marketers.

When deciding what product to promote you will need to have a niche. It is best to pick a niche that you know about or find interesting. This will give you the best chance of success. Once you have your niche, it's time to search for it on Clickbank's market place.

The search results will include the following:

Ave $ / sale, which is the average net amount earned by an affiliate.

Ave % / sale, which is the average percentage earned on each sale made by an affiliate.

Ave % / rebill, which is the average percentage earned on a products that has
recurring billing, sold by affiliates.

Grav, which stands for gravity. It is a weighted score that reflects how popular a product is.

Put simply, gravity is a score that Clickbank assigns to each affiliate product, regarding how many sales are made and how recently those sales have occurred. So the gravity is an important measure of how successful a product is.

An expanded definition of gravity, is the number of individual affiliates who earned a commission by referring a paying customer to the publisher's product over the past 12 weeks. This is a weighted sum and not an actual total. Recent transactions are given a higher value.

Clearly, we want to promote a product that is in demand and the gravity will tell us how popular the product is. In general, a low gravity suggests there are not many affiliates promoting the product. A high gravity suggests there is a competitive market for the product, with many affiliates promoting it.

I only promote products that have a high gravity. This is because it indicates the product is in high demand and is selling well. The chances are that, high gravity products are receiving lots of attention online as well. They are subject to reviews and forum discussion, which is great for free advertising. Therefore, there is a greater possibility that the product can be sold.

The catch with high gravity products, is that there is a lot of competition from other affiliate marketers. This means you would have to market it very aggressively. Therefore, I like to choose products with a medium/high gravity of about 75-150. This means that it is a good product that is selling well, but the market is not saturated with competition.

Once you have found several products that you are interested in (based on gravity and category). You can then narrow it down by looking at other statistics, such as the average $ / sale and average % / sale.

Now you can be more confident you have picked a solid Clickbank product for your affiliate marketing campaign. Good Luck.
