The Benefits of Waffle Irons with Removable Plates

As you can imagine the benefits of purchasing a waffle iron with removable plates can be enormous. They may cost a little more than the other waffle irons, but well worth the money especially if you make waffles all the time. The most obvious benefit to owning a waffle iron with removable plates is the easy clean up. There are several brands such as Black and Decker, Cuisinart and Sunbeam that make waffle irons with removable plates. Even the George Foreman Grill has the option of purchasing waffle griddles that fit their popular grill. Having the waffle plates removable make clean up a breeze compared to the other models where the griddle does not come apart. Since most waffle irons are electric, the appliance cannot be submerged in water so clean up becomes a little more difficult. Most of the time, you have to just wipe off the waffle griddle with a damp cloth which is time consuming if you need to clean around each waffle indent. The removable plates allow you to take the waffle iron to the sink and rinse off quickly. Place them on a towel or dish drainer to air dry which is more sanitary than using a towel to wipe clean.
Another benefit to owning a waffle iron with a removable plate is that some brands like Cuisinart or George Foreman are actually several appliances since they come with different styles of plates. The Cuisinart 5 in 1 Griddler comes with interchangeable plates that in addition to being a waffle iron, it can turn into a Panini press, griddle for pancakes, bacon, etc. and a grill that cooks all types of meats. This Cuisinart Griddler a little more expensive than the typical waffle iron, but for the price of under $100 you do get 5 different types of appliances in one. Cuisinart also stands behind its product with a nice warranty on its appliances.

Lastly, my favorite waffle iron with removable plates is the Black and Decker Waffle Baker. It has a retro look that takes you back to the yesteryear of the 1950’s or 60’s with its chrome housing and square style. As soon as you see it, memories of waffles being made at your mother’s or grandmother’s home will flood back to you. The Black and Decker Waffle Baker also come with griddle and grill plates for making all types of sandwiches and other breakfast foods. The plates interchange easily, and of course clean up is a breeze. A little warning with this waffle iron is that the housing is chrome and does get hot to the touch when heated. As I remember back as a child, this was true with all chrome style appliances we had in our kitchen.
