Lunch Boxes Go Back to School Green

With my lunchbox tips you can save time, money and be green too!

Here are some tips to help:

Purchase a well insulated lunchbox, ice packs, a small drink bottle, cloth napkins, and both square and round small bowls with lids. Don't forget the spoon or fork! These will pay off in the long run and help you and your child learn to be green!

The bowls can be reused for making your own:
fruit cups
veggies
crackers
cheese
lunch meat (I usually cut slice into quarters)
salads
pudding
gelatin
chips
pretzels
dips or peanut butter

You get the picture. I would spend a little time on Sunday and prepare some of these bowls and stash them in the fridge. If you have purchased a couple of drink bottles these too can be pre-made. Instead of those expensive lunch packs, now you just pick and choose your pre-made bowls and toss in the lunch box!

Sandwiches of sliced bread every day can get boring. A child who is hungry can not focus on learning; their stomach is too "loud"!
Try some or all of these lunch box options:

tortilla wrap sandwiches
pita pocket sandwiches
bagel sandwiches
English muffin sandwiches
muffin and a hard, boiled egg
crackers with peanut butter or cheese
graham cracker with cream cheese
granola and yogurt
tortilla chips with bean-dip
rice cakes with peanut butter
pasta salad
granola bars

For healthier lunches use whole grains and remember to include a protein.
