Candles and Wedding Ceremony

It is not just flowers that star at weddings. Candles also play an important part especially during the wedding ceremony. Candles help in enhancing a more intimate romantic wedding mood. The glow of candles creates a feeling of solemnity and importance to a formal religious wedding ceremony.

Here is just some of the usage of candles most especially for the wedding ceremony:

1. Unity candles. Unity candles are mostly used to symbolize the union of the couple. They are mostly consisted of two tapered candles representing the bride and groom. They are placed on either side of a larger pillar candle. They are placed on a small table on the altar area. For those who are going to arrange this, better put it where the bride and the groom can easily reach them.

The side, taper candles may be pre-lit by the attendants or a family member, but they can also be lit by the bride and groom during the ceremony. When it comes to the officiant, he or she would explain the significance of the lighting of the unity candles.

2. Memorial candles. They are mostly used together with the unity candles. Memorial candles represent loved ones who are no longer with them, but are considered important it the lives of the couple and their family. They may also be placed at the same place where the unity candles are placed or they can be placed on a separate table.

3. Candles that could also be used with flowers as part of the church wedding decorations. For those who are going to use candles in the wedding ceremony, an option to creating a fantastic ceremony, you can use large candelabra on the altar area to make the ceremony beautiful and they can also be found in many shapes, styles and finishes. There are still great ways to use candles at the ceremony and there are so many candles of colors and shapes that can be used.

But of course, as we use candles at the ceremony, better add precautions since you are still going to use fire. You can use votive and hurricane glass to help protect the flame from an errant breeze or brush of cloth. Better not use flammable ribbons, cloth, or silk near or with the candles. Keep it also away from the traffic pattern of guests who are arriving or departing from the ceremony area. Also ensure that the candles are away from kids, which includes your flower girl who is wearing your flower girl jewelry and your ring bearer.
