How to get into wearing high heels

High heels are one of the most popular styles of women’s footwear out there, but if you are like many of the women that steer clear of them you probably end up with aching feet every time you put them on. Spending a few hours wearing high heels might make your outfit look amazing but the last thing you want is to end up with painful blisters. Luckily, there are a few things that you can do in order to ease yourself into this fantastic fashion choice so that you can start building your high heel collection.

The first thing that you need to understand about wearing high heels is that if you aren’t used to wearing them they might feel a little strange at first. Being on your feet all day in high heels can end up putting pressure on your heels and the arch of your foot, but if you buy the correct kind of high heels you can stop this from happening. You should only ever buy your heels from a well-known store that has a reputation for selling comfortable shoes that don’t make your feet ache, so steer clear of that questionable shoe shop in your local town centre!

Also, it is incredibly important that you wear the right size of high heel. Wearing ill-fitting shoes in any style can make your feet hurt, but high heels that aren’t worn in the correct size can actually damage your feet over time. You could end up with bunions, dropped arches or hard callouses on your feet, all of which can be uncomfortable, painful and difficult to treat. You should get your feet measured to found out that size you are and should never wear shoes that feel at all uncomfortable. Whether they are too big or too small, if they don’t fit you should send them straight back to the shop and get a different size.

Another thing to remember is that everyone has a favourite high heel style and it usually relates back to what feels comfortable to them. Many people find that they prefer strappy high heels as they can make sure the heels don’t slip off your feet as you walk, whereas others feel a lot more comfortable in platform heels than other styles. You should try a range of high heel styles in order to find the one that best suits you and you can also use inserts, pads and other shoe items to make your shoes more comfortable.
