Types of catalytic converters

The automobile industry has grown fast with latest technologies and components. But the truth is the same fundamental process that happens in each and every vehicle like past. So these vehicles produce gases that are not good for the environment and for lives. To overcome this problem catalytic converter has come. Catalytic converter works by forcing the gases from the engine to run past chemical compounds. These chemical coated compounds break these toxic gases in to non toxic gases.
Basically there are two types of catalytic converters used in vehicles. First one is the honeycomb catalytic converter. As name says, this converter is a cylinder with multiple honeycombs pieces crossing it. These honeycombs are coated with chemicals such as rhodium, palladium and platinum. When exhaust gases forced through this converter, they interact with chemicals and render in to harmless gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and water vapor.

Second type of catalytic converter is ceramic bead converters. These are also coated with same types of chemicals. When exhaust passes through the chamber, it runs across the beads and the exhaust is rendered inert. The beads actively move around the converter as the car move, which gives them equal exposure to the exhaust.

Does not matter what type of catalytic converter that your vehicle has, they do the same job of stopping toxic emissions from your vehicle.
