Hair Removal : Pros and Cons of Electrolysis

Unwanted hair can be such an annoyance. It's quite irritating and frustrating to deal with these pesky hairs that seem to grow at a very fast rate. The hairs just keep on coming back so quickly, and sometimes it can really be hard to keep up with. But the good news is, there are a lot of hair removal options today that offer long lasting results. Forget about shaving every other day. There are better options that give long lasting results and one of which is by electrolysis. However, just like any other hair removal methods, electrolysis has its own share of advantages and disadvantages. With this, let me share to you some of the pros and cons of electrolysis. Here are some of them.

PROS

1. It is permanent. Once the treatment is completed, the hair will never grow back. This means, you don't have to shave or wax or thread on the treated area anymore.

2. It saves you time and money in the long run. Because electrolysis gives permanent results, you don't have to spend on expensive monthly waxing and threading services. It also saves you time from shaving every other day.

3. It makes you more confident. Even the slightest stubble can make your self esteem suffer. For those who undergo electrolysis, the peace of mind that comes with being stubble free forever can boost your confidence.

4. It is FDA approved. The Food and Drug Administration has approved the safety and effectiveness of electrolysis in removing unwanted hair. This means, electrolysis is proven and tested by the experts to be 100% safe and effective for hair removal.

5. It kills every follicle the electrologist treats. Unlike laser, electrolysis kills every follicle which guarantees permanent results.

CONS

1. It requires multiple sessions. A single session is not enough for this method of hair removal. You have to return for about two to three more sessions. Sometimes, additional sessions are required depending on your hair growth cycle, hormones and many other factors.

2. It's not cheap. The cost of this process discourages many people from trying this permanent method of hair removal. And just like what I've said earlier, it requires multiple sessions which makes the cost shoot up.

3. It is time consuming. Electrolysis is very time consuming because the hair follicles are killed one at a time. This is why it is advisable, and not to mention more economical to treat sparse haired areas such as the eyebrow area. You can just imagine how long it would take to treat a whole leg!

4. It can be painful. There is a certain degree of pain that comes with electrolysis, especially if it is performed on sensitive areas of the body.

5. It can cause redness. Just like laser treatments, electrolysis can cause the skin to turn red temporarily which can be quite unsightly.f
