Why not update your make up collection? If you tip out your make up bag and look through your cosmetics you will be amazed at the products that have accumulated there. Some have never been used (expensive mistakes) and some are religiously replaced every time they run out.
Styles change and you change - why not change your make up and give yourself a new look.
Apart from anything else, once opened, cosmetics do deteriorate and should be thrown out within a certain time limit. As a rough guide mascara and liquid eyeliner should be discarded after 3 months; liquid foundation after 6 months; powder, powder shadow and lipsticks after 2 years. Better safe than sorry!
New products are launched every day and quality and quantity are improving all the time.
Don't know where to start? I know it's a bit daunting, but it's probably a good idea to look at some of the numerous online cosmetics shops - that way you can take your time to make your choices and read product reviews from satisfied (or unsatisfied) customers.
Basic Shopping List
First decide on your 'must have' items. This list will probably include foundation, blusher, lipsticks, mascara, eye shadow and eyeliner.
Do your research online and choose your basic items. It's probably a good idea to match items like lipsticks and eye shadows to favourite outfits.
Don't forget to buy skincare products such as cleanser, toner, moisturiser and facial scrubs - you need a good base to apply your brand new make up.
The Extras
Now you have the basics why not add some extras?
Nail polish comes in a huge array of colours and finishes and can be great fun to experiment with - each fingernail a different colour perhaps. These polishes can have a gloss, matt or pearly finish. My favourite nail decoration is French manicure and you can buy kits to do this at home (it's quite easy) or simply buy a very pale pink polish and a white polish which will do the same job.
Bronzers come in various forms and colours - and when applied with a large soft brush give a lovely healthy glow to the skin.
Blushers are great for giving the face definition - you will need a variety of shades to do the best job.
Make up brushes - treat yourself to new set of really good make up brushes. They will make a big difference to the way your make up goes on. While you're at it you may as well get a new make up bag to hold your new make up collection.
Bear in mind it might be necessary to buy a few new outfits to complete your new look!
