Top Eight Things to Add to Your Survival Gear Pack

If you plan to take a trip through the woods, it is detrimental for you to be prepared for anything that comes your way. Your survival gear should be the one thing that keeps you prepared in the event of bad weather or a horrible accident. You need to choose your survival gear wisely. This means you should look up information about what the best items to bring are.
Pack a Knife
It can help if you add a multi-purpose knife to your survival gear pack. However, you need to get a knife that performs well enough. For example, the knife should be strong enough to cut through miniature branches and thick ropes. It will not help if you purchase a large knife. It needs to be small enough for you to carry easily. You will be carrying other things. The knife should also feature various important tools that you can use on your trip. This can include scissors and tweezers.
Pack a Blanket
Although many people do not think to pack blankets, almost every survival gear pack should include a thick tarp and a space blanket. Both the tarp and the space blanket can be used for warmth and shelter during nights in the woods. You should also pack parachute cords and duct tape. This will prove to be useful in the event that the tarp needs to be repaired.
Prepare Water
You should add a steel cup for water to your survival gear pack. Steel cups are extremely durable and harder to break or lose. You should also bring any tool that allows you to purify your water. You can never be too safe. Water purifiers include water purification tablets and a straw that purifies the water as you drink it.
Add a Flashlight
You should prepare yourself for the possibility that you could become separated from your partners. If this does happen, an LED flashlight and a mirror in your survival gear pack will be useful. It can be used to signal others that you are lost. An LED flashlight is also useful for examining wounds in the dark. If using a flashlight when you are lost does not work, you should add a whistle to your survival gear pack as a last resort. Small but loud whistles can help your partners find you.
Add a Lighter
You should add three different lighters to your survival gear pack. This includes matches that can strike anywhere, a small lighter and a magnesium fire starter. This ensures that you will be able to make a fire in any type of weather condition.
Directions
You should always pack a map of the area and a compass. This will be useful if you ever get lost.
